FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SIGNS AND INSURANCE
We are charging an entry fee to ensure we cover the costs of organising
the event, and the administration . By charging a fee we are sure that
all the money from your sponsorship goes straight to Institute of Cancer Research Everyman Campaign
, however we will keep the costs as low as possible. If there is
money remaining we will include this in the final amount donated to
Institute of Cancer Research Everyman Campaign. A few examples of the costs involves are:-

DO I HAVE TO COLLECT SPONSORSHIP MONEY AS WELL
AS PAY AN ENTRY FEE?
As explained above we need to be sure that all your sponsorship
money goes to Institute of Cancer Research Everyman Campaign, and the entry fee will ensure that
happens.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SPONSORSHIP MONEY?
The closing date for receipt of your sponsorship money is the 31st
December 2011. In January 2012 we will donate the total to Institute of Cancer Research Everyman Campaign
to help them continue their research, with a specific request
that it is used to try and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose
and treat men's cancers. If you need more

WHAT WAYS CAN I PAY IN MY SPONSORSHIP MONEY
You can pay via the internet using a credit or debit card, please see
details on this website
By post to Wigan Rotary run4alife, P O Box 507, Standish, Wigan WN1
9AB. Please make cheques payable to Wigan Rotary run4alife.
We would strongly advise not to send cash through the post, where
possible please bank the cash and send a cheque.
Please make sure all the money is sent by the 31st December
2011. If you are paying in money for more than one person, could you
please advise us of their names and reference numbers.
Whichever way you decide to pay, PLEASE, PLEASE remember to send
us your Sponsorship Form so we are able to claim the Gift Aid.
WHAT IS GIFT AID?
If your sponsors are U K taxpayers, the Governments Gift Aid
Scheme allows us to collect tax back on their pledge. This means that
on top of every £100 of sponsorship money the Government will give us
an extra £22.
All we need you to do is to ask each of your sponsors to tick the
box on your form, and to make sure we can read their full name and home
address including Post Code. We can then claim the extra 22% on your
sponsorship money. However we do need you to send us your Sponsorship
Form. We can also claim Gift Aid on any donation that you make if you
are a U K taxpayer
HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I RAISE?
In short as much a possible! However whatever the amount it will be
very much appreciated. The bigger the success of run4alife the more
we can donate to Institute of Cancer Research Everyman Campaign for them to continue their life
saving research.
DO I HAVE TO COLLECT ALL MY MONEY IN BEFORE
I SEND IT?
No. You can send the money in batches, although this will cost us more
in administration. However if you do please make sure you include your
name and address and reference number with each amount.
CAN I SEND MY SPONSORSHIP MONEY BEFORE
THE RACE DAY?
Yes you can, but we would advise that you complete the race before you
send the money, so that you can confirm to your sponsors that you participated
in run4alife
WILL DONATIONS BE ACCEPTED?
Yes. You can make a donation either on line or by sending a cheque payable
to 'Wigan Rotary run4alife' to: Wigan Rotary run4alife, PO Box
507, Standish, Wigan WN1 9AB
CAN I SPLIT MY SPONSORSHIP MONEY BETWEEN
2 CHARITIES?
Unfortunately not. All entrants agree to the run4alife rules. One of
the rules is that you have a legal responsibility to ensure all sponsorship
monies and donations are received by Wigan Rotary Club by 31st
December 2011. However we do have special arrangements for amateur
sports clubs and groups to enable them the retain part of the money they raise,
full details can be obtained by contacting us.
WHAT IS A BACK SIGN?
This is a way you can dedicate your participation in run4alife in memory
of or in celebration of someone you know. Write the details on the sign
and attach it to your back on the day of the event.
DO I HAVE TO RUN THE COURSE?
No you don’t. You can run, jog, walk, skip,
hop, it is up to you. The main thing is that you take part and raise
the money you have been sponsored.
WHAT DO I RECEIVE IN MY RACE PACK?
You will receive a Sponsorship Form ( this is already on our website
and you can print this off and be obtaining sponsors).

HOW LONG IS THE RACE?
The Family fun run is 5 Km or 3.1 miles. The event for the regular runners is
10Km or 6.2 miles
CAN I TURN UP ON THE DAY AND RUN?
Yes. However due to Health & Safety and Insurance reasons
we have to make sure that the race does not exceed the maximum number
of participants allowed. We would suggest you enter as soon as
possible to make sure of your place, and to give you time to train and
obtain as much sponsorship as possible. If you intend entering on the day please ensure
you allow sufficient time to enable you to compete the entry form and pay the fee etc.
We will endeavour to deal with your entry as quickly as possible but there may be other people doing the same.
IF I CANNOT TAKE PART CAN SOMEONE ELSE
TAKE MY PLACE?
No. Due to Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we need to make
sure that we have details of all the participants on the day.
ARE WHEELCHAIRS ALLOWED ON THE COURSE?
Regret there is No Wheelchair Access on the course. For further
details regarding general disabled access to Haigh Hall
WHAT WILL MY SON OR DAUGHTER DO IF I
TAKE PART?
We would suggest you ask friends or family who are supporting you on
the day to look after your child. Having people there to cheer on the
participants will hopefully help to create a fantastic atmosphere on
the day
CAN I BRING CHILDREN?
Children are very welcome, and the Entry Fee is reduced.
However as stated in our Rules, we strongly advise that anyone under
18 who is taking part is accompanied by a responsible adult. We cannot
accept responsibility for anyone under 18 on the day of the event.
DO YOU ALLOW PRAMS/STROLLERS
Due to Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we cannot allow prams,
pushchairs, or jogging buggies on the course
DO YOU ALLOW PETS?
Again due to Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we cannot allow
pets on the course. We would also request that spectators keep their
pets on a lead.
DO YOU ALLOW ROLLER SKATES/BLADES
Again for Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we cannot allow
anyone taking part in the event to wear Roller Skates/Blades.
CAN I CARRY MY BABY IN A SLING?
Yes this is fine
DO YOUNG CHILDREN HAVE TO PAY AN ENTRY
FEE?
Anyone taking part has to pay a fee, although this is at a reduced rate.
For Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we have
to make sure all participants are accounted for, and if a child gets
lost we will have all the contact details to help reunite the child
as quickly as possible.
WHAT IF THE RACE IS FULL?
Unfortunately due to Health & Safety and Insurance reasons we are
not permitted to go over the limit agreed with Haigh Hall Country Park.
If the event is full by the time we receive your application it will
be returned to you with your entrance fee.
DO YOU RECORD MY FINISHING TIME AND PLACE
IN THE RACE?
There is a facility for the 10Km event and the results will appear on
this website and the Wigan Rotary Club Website within 48 hours of completion
of the event. However the 5Km event is not a competition and therefore we will not keep a record, the idea
is for everyone to take part in a great event and raise funds for cancer
research. However we will provide a clock at the Start/Finish Line if
you would like to time yourself.
